Kappelhamnsviken is a fast, hollow lefthander set deep inside a fjord-like bay. The bay funnels northerly swell onto an uneven reef and shapes it into a point-style left, and the wider area is worth exploring.
When It Works
It draws swell from northwest through northeast and lines up best on a northwest (NW) swell. The break is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it needs to be at least waist high to keep the rocks covered. Don't count on it too often, though, as it rarely breaks.
Wind and Tide
The offshore direction is southwest (SW), and it really only comes to life in a strong wind, over 10 m/s. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and because it breaks so seldom you'll rarely share it with much of a crowd.
