Overview
Kidd's Beach is a sandy beachbreak at a popular holiday resort 35km south of town. The beach itself is the draw here, serving up a decent wave over sand, while the point never really offers much.
When It Works
Swell arrives from southeast through south, and south (S) is the direction that lines the sandbars up best. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and small to mid south swells tend to bring out the best in it. Both lefts and rights are on offer, and the beach is moderately consistent, so it's worth keeping an eye on rather than counting on every session.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind. The beach can work through most of the tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly wave for beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet.
Access
There's camping at the beach, along with a car park with free parking and roadside parking nearby.
