Kirbys Point is a stretch of average beachbreaks broken up by short jetties, with waves peeling both left and right over sand. It tends to draw more fishermen than surfers, so the vibe leans quiet and low-key.
When It Works
Kirbys Point pulls swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with a northeast swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Being moderately consistent, it turns on fairly regularly once the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for west offshore wind to clean up the faces. It can work through most of the tide, across low, mid, and high, with a rising tide generally the better call and the higher stages of the tide favoring the banks.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on. In summer, keep an eye out for jellyfish in the water and greenhead flies on the beach.

A lifeguard is on hand, and there's a car park with free parking plus roadside parking if the lot fills up.
