Overview
L'Amelie is a sand-bottom beachbreak that peels both left and right, and it can turn on when the banks line up. On the right day, fast, hollow waves form up near the blockhaus or the jetty. The setting stays undeveloped apart from a campsite tucked into the dunes, giving the spot a quiet, natural feel.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southwest through northwest, with northwest (NW) the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, covering everything from small, playful days to solid, sizeable surf. Breaking over sand, it stays fairly consistent, so you have a good chance of finding rideable waves when you turn up.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean up the faces. It works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers looking to work on their turns on a wave that can get fast and hollow. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, and more of a crowd through the summer months.
