Overview
La Aguada is the most popular beachbreak in town, facing due east over a sand bottom. It picks up plenty of swell and handles some size, which is why most local contests are held here. Short, fast, often hollow peelers break both left and right, spreading the crowd along the beach.
When It Works
The break draws swell from east through south (E-S), with southeast (SE) the best match, and it's a consistent performer that rarely leaves you waiting long. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Keep an eye on the size, though: once it pushes overhead it shuts down hard and the currents start to swirl.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean it up. The bank works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. If the wind swings north, head back across town to La Balconada instead.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners and a regular stop for the local surf schools, so expect a busy lineup when it's on.
Access
You'll find restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, a surf school, and a surf shop close by. Parking is easy, with a free car park plus roadside spots.
