La Derecha de la Triangular surf guide

La Derecha de la Triangular is a well-known surf spot located at the eastern end of La Salvaje beach. It's popular among surfers, especially longboarders, and can get pretty crowded, particularly during peak season. The area offers decent parking options in winter, including space for camper vans, but parking can get restricted and metered in the summer months. The beach provides good facilities, making it a convenient spot for a day of surfing.

This spot delivers excellent long righthand waves that break over an uneven reef. It's best surfed during mid to high tide and thrives on medium west swells. You can expect it to start working at around 4 feet (1.2 meters) and can handle swells up to about 10 feet (3 meters). The optimal swell direction is from the west, but it can also pick up waves from the north. For the best conditions, aim for a south wind. It’s suited for intermediate surfers who are comfortable with the waves and the reef.

Given its popularity, you’ll want to get there early to snag a spot in the water. Be prepared for a bit of a crowd, especially during the weekends. The vibe can be friendly, but like anywhere with a lot of surfers, be respectful and share the waves. Enjoy your session, and keep an eye on the conditions before you paddle out!
