Overview
La Gouira is one of the small bays fringing the west side of the peninsula that separates Western Sahara from Mauritania, and it stands out for its good righthander. The wave breaks both left and right over a mix of uneven reef and sand.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from the southwest to north (SW-N) window and is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Facing southwest, it can struggle to pick up size.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind, though it also holds up in north winds. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

This is an expert-level wave, best left to experienced surfers.
Access
This is a dangerous border area that is heavily mined, and mines still scatter the border zone. The even better spot of Cap Blanc sits nearby, but across the border.
