Overview
La Manga del Mar Menor is a long, thin peninsula lined with peaky beachbreaks that can turn hollow, breaking over sand for its whole length. It picks up more swell than nearby La Mata, so it often has something rideable when other spots go flat.
When It Works
La Manga draws swell from northeast through southeast (NE-SE), with an east (E) swell the best match. The sandy peaks throw up both lefts and rights, and the spot works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean things up. The beachbreak can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is surf central for Murcia, and La Playa de Galúa pulls the biggest crowd when it's breaking, so head north along the peninsula if you want more room to yourself. The mellow, sandy peaks make it a friendly spot for beginners.
