When It Works
La Mesita draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest, and a northwest swell is the best match for those long lefts. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and tends to be moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to groom the point. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet.

Reaching the spot takes some beach driving, so plan for that. There's free roadside parking once you arrive.
