Overview
La Santa Izquierda is the most ridden wave on the island, a seriously thick left and right peak that breaks over an uneven reef known as The Slab. The left is the longer of the two waves and the more fought over, and both throw classic, powerful tubes. You'll find it just north of the town's harbour.
When It Works
The reef holds a wide range of swell directions, working on anything from the west through to the north (W-N), with northwest (NW) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind, though the peak holds a broad wind window. It breaks on mid and high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
This is an experts-only wave, always heavy and consistently crowded. It carries a serious localism problem and is effectively off limits to most surfers, so weigh that up carefully before paddling out.
Access
There's a car park with free parking alongside roadside parking. Leave nothing in the car.
