La Vedette is a left-hand point break that peels along a rocky point over uneven reef. Facing northwest, it bends solid south and southwest swells into standout, barrelling lefts.
When It Works
It draws swell from south through west, with southwest the best match, and works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is moderate, so it takes some patience, but the point delivers when the setup lines up. If the swell is running too small, the long beach to the north is worth a look.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. The point works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
La Vedette suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet. Watch the rocks on the inside.
Access
You'll find it about 30 km north of Huasco, past Los Toyos.
