Overview
Lahinch - Shit Creek is a heavy reef break that peels over a rock ledge. It is mainly a left at low tide, with a few rights showing up as the tide fills in. The name comes from the water colouration coming off the river rather than any pollution.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from the southwest through northwest, with west (W) swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, holding size as the swell builds.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call, and the left showing best down at low.
Local Tips
This is a heavy, expert-level wave, so it suits surfers who are confident on a shallow reef.
