Overview
Largoa de Albuferia is a mellow rivermouth peak this far down the Costa Caparica, where Lisbon feels a long way away. Set in beautiful countryside among campsites, it is one of several beach-access spots along this stretch that serve up quiet waves. A small rivermouth helps shape better-than-average sandbars, breaking as both lefts and rights over sand, and the water here is clean.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from southwest through north (SW-N), with northwest (NW) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it is a consistent spot, so there are usually waves on offer within that range.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. The sandbars can work through the whole tide, from low to high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a good spot for beginners, and the mellow setting matches the easygoing feel in the water. The lineup stays quiet for most of the year, though it can get crowded in summer.
Access
Camping sits right nearby, and the beach has showers and a lifeguard. You can leave the car in a car park with free parking or along the roadside.
