Las Cuevas is a crescent bay beachbreak in Trinidad, throwing up hollow, fast peaks over sand. It breaks both left and right and gets bigger toward the western end of the bay. Just west, Tyrico Bay offers gentler peelers if you want something more forgiving.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from north through east, with north the best direction, and it works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. At size it holds hollow, fast peaks up to around 6 ft. It's moderately consistent overall: fairly reliable through winter, but often flat in the summer months unless a hurricane swell arrives.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. The bank is best at mid to high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
There's a car park with free parking. The bigger, western end of the bay is a good walk from there and the fishing village.
