Overview
Le Dossen is a long, sandy beachbreak that peels both left and right along an open stretch of coast. It sits so exposed to the wind that bringing a sail or kite is genuinely worthwhile, and the beach doubles as a land yachting hotspot.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from west to north (W-N), with a west (W) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and stays moderately consistent, so there are plenty of chances to catch it on form.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind; a west wind quickly blows the beach to pieces. It breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide the better call. The river end is less sloppy at lower tides, while the peaks in the middle turn into high-tide rollers made for longboarding.
Local Tips
This is a beginner-friendly spot, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it works. Shortboarders are better off at l'Ile de Sieck just in front, which serves up a hollow, hardcore right reef.
Access
There's a car park with free parking, and camping and a restaurant are close by.
