Le Gouerou surf guide

Le Gouerou is a surf spot located near Lampaul-Plouarzel, known for its consistent waves that attract surfers throughout the year. This spot can get crowded due to its popularity, especially with local surfers. The beach provides a mix of uneven reef and sandy areas, which can make for an interesting surf experience. It’s a great place to catch some waves, but be prepared for some localism in the water.

The waves at Le Gouerou generally break close to shore and can be pretty hollow and powerful. The best swell direction is from the Northwest, but it can handle swells from the Southwest and North as well. It works well with swell sizes from about 1ft (0.3 meters) and can produce both left and right waves. The preferable wind direction is from the East, and mid tide is where you’ll find the best conditions. This spot is suitable for expert surfers, as the tricky exit at higher tides can challenge even the most experienced surfers.

If you’re planning to surf here, keep in mind that it can get quite crowded, especially on good days. With rips occasionally present, finding the right spot in the lineup may require a bit of patience. Always be aware of your surroundings and the locals when catching waves at Le Gouerou, as it’s important to maintain a good vibe in the water.
