Le Goulet Surf Forecast Guide

Le Goulet is a rare left-hander tucked into the south end of Baie de l'Arsenal, breaking over live coral. It only shows on the biggest southwest swells, which have to wrap nearly 180 degrees to reach it, so the good days here are few and far between.

When It Works

The reef draws swell from southwest through northwest, but it really needs a solid southwest (SW) swell to turn on. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and even then it stays somewhat inconsistent given how much the swell has to bend in to arrive. When it does line up, though, it delivers a quality left worth the wait.

Wind and Tide

Look for south (S) offshore wind to smooth it out. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

This is an intermediate reef break, and the lineup stays manageable, though it pulls a few more surfers than most spots along the northwest coast on the rare occasions it breaks. Keep an eye out for urchins on the live coral.
