Overview
Le Gurp is a consistent beach break near EuroNat, peeling both lefts and rights over sand. When a large swell lines up and a bit of luck is on your side, it can throw long, tubing lefts.
When It Works
It draws swell from the southwest through northwest, with northwest the direction that suits it best. The banks are usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the break stays reliable across a good range of conditions. If the main peak isn't cooperating, it's worth checking the banks at La Négade to the north or at Dépée next to the Euronat camp.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to clean things up. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. The old bunkers get covered at high water, so keep that in mind as the tide fills in.
Local Tips
This one is best suited to intermediate surfers, and the current runs strong enough to keep beginners out. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, and a bit of local attitude can come with it.
Access
There's a car park with free parking. Facilities include restrooms and showers, a lifeguard, camping, plus a surf school and surf shop.
