Le Virage surf guide

Le Virage is a rocky bay that surfers can head to for a bit of fun. The spot often has messy beach breaks, but when the conditions are right, you can catch some decent waves. It tends to do its best when there’s a strong Northwest swell and Southeast winds, which helps clean things up and can turn it into a solid reef break. It's a popular place, so you might encounter a bit of a crowd, especially on good days.

This spot works well for different swell sizes, handling anything from 1ft (0.3m) up to bigger swells. The optimal swell direction is Northwest, but it can also pick up SouthWest and North swells. The break over uneven reef and sand can offer both left and right waves, making it a versatile place for surfers. Whether you’re just starting or have a bit of experience, it’s a spot that's beginner-friendly, especially at low to mid tide, although it works at high tide too.
