Les Bourdaines surf guide

Les Bourdaines is a popular surf spot located in Seignosse, known for its consistent waves and good banks. It's easily accessible from the D79 road, and it's one of the shorter walks from the car park to the beach. However, it can get quite crowded, especially in the summer when holiday apartments fill the area. Find a spot early if you want to avoid the rush, as it tends to get packed by early afternoon.

This spot works well with a northwestern swell and can handle sizes starting from 1 ft (0.3 m). The waves predominantly break over sand, offering both left and right rides. You can expect multiple peaks, especially up towards Penon, which can be fun for surfers of different skill levels. The best conditions happen with east winds and during low to mid tides. While more experienced surfers could enjoy the waves, beginners will find it manageable, provided they keep an eye on the rips that can form in the inside sections.

Les Bourdaines also has a reputation for being contestable most of the time, making it a regular site for competitions. Many surfers appreciate the stable sandbanks that have developed over the years, creating a reliable surfing environment. Even though it’s generally a good spot, it might be challenging during dead high tide when the surf can become unruly and closed out with larger swells.
