Les Grenettes throws up soft-breaking peaks and makes for an easygoing wave. It is predominantly a left peeling over a flat reef, though going right is a real possibility. The bottom is a mix of rock ledge and sand.
When It Works
The peaks stay soft in just about any swell, so there is usually something to ride. It draws swell from southwest to northwest and works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is moderate, so it pays to catch it when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind to smooth it out. Mid tide is the best call, with a rising tide generally better still, and low tide is worth avoiding since that is when the peaks lose their shape.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot to learn on, well suited to beginners. Expect a busy lineup when it is working. If the crowd gets to be too much, the peaks just north at Gros Jonc tend to thin out.
