Lindamar (Pacifica) Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Lindamar (Pacifica), also known as Linda Mar, is a mile-long beachbreak tucked between the north point and Pedro Point. Somewhat protected from swell and wind, it's a mellow, mushy wave that suits beginners and longboarders. The bottom is mainly sand, with boulders and rocks at the south end where the beach is flanked by cliffs. San Pedro Creek discharges at that south end. It's a fun, low-key spot rather than a standout performer.

When It Works

The beach draws swell from southwest through north (SW-N), with northwest (NW) the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft and peels both left and right over the sand and boulders. Expect it to be best around head high. Autumn, winter, and spring bring the most surf, and the spot stays moderately consistent through the season, even if the overall wave quality tends to be modest.

Wind and Tide

Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind. Lindamar sits at the end of a big valley that funnels south and southwest winds into offshores, so it can be cranking in winter when the rest of the coast is blown out, and the same effect can turn summer's onshore fog winds offshore. It works on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

Expect a busy lineup when it's on, mostly beginner to intermediate surfers, with a large longboard crew when it's working. The atmosphere is somewhat reserved. Fish, funboards, longboards, and SUPs all suit the forgiving waves. Keep an eye out for rips, which can strengthen when the surf is solid.

Access

There's a large car park right by the break with free parking, plus restrooms and showers.
