The surf works best with a south-west swell coming in, but don’t worry if that's not what you get; it can still handle swells from the east and south-west. The spot is best for catching waves that are around 1ft (0.3 meters) and can break both left and right over sand. If you're looking to catch the best waves, aim for high tide as that’s when you’ll find the lefts off the groynes really firing. When the winds are coming from the north, that’s typically when the waves are cleaner and more enjoyable.

In terms of surf conditions, you’ll find that Littlehampton is suited for both beginners and experienced surfers, though it can be crowded when the conditions are right.
