Los Locos surf guide

Los Locos is a popular surf spot located near the town of Suances. It's a west-facing beachbreak that offers a consistent wave, making it a go-to for many surfers in the area. The beach is surrounded by high cliffs, which helps protect it from the summer northeast sea breezes. It tends to get crowded, especially during the summertime and on weekends, so be ready for some competition out in the water.

The surf at Los Locos is generally suitable for intermediate surfers. The optimal swell direction is from the northwest, though it also works well with west and north swells. You can catch waves in sizes starting from around 2 feet (0.6 meters) and it breaks over sand. The waves typically peel both left and right. Low, mid, and high tide conditions are all good here, but for the best experience, southeast winds are preferred.

While it can be busy, the spot has decent facilities for surfers, including the presence of a surf school. Make sure to keep that in mind if youโ€™re looking to brush up on your skills or rent some gear. Just be prepared for a little localism; the locals tend to protect their turf, so it's good to be respectful out there.
