Luatuanuu surf guide

Luatuanuu is a surf spot located on the north-facing coast, close to Apia. It features a mix of rocky reef and some localized coral formations. The area offers a bit of variety, but it’s not the most consistent spot around. You’ll find that getting in and out can be a bit tricky due to the rocky bottom, so it’s best suited for those who are somewhat comfortable with their surfing skills.

This spot is known for its right-hand waves that break over live coral, which can be fun if the conditions are right. Luatuanuu handles swell sizes around 2ft (0.6 meters) and can pick up swells coming from the north, northwest, and northeast. The best time to catch good waves here is usually when the winds are coming from the south and during low to mid tide. While it’s not ideal for beginners, intermediate surfers will likely enjoy the challenges it presents.

Nearby, you’ll find the Waterfalls break, which offers a different experience with its more aggressive barrels. This spot is especially better on low tides, attracting more experienced surfers and bodyboarders. Overall, Luatuanuu can provide some quality sessions if you're ready for a bit of adventure over the rocky reef.
