Overview
Lumio sits above a bay dotted with protected jetty beachbreaks, with nice views over the citadel of Calvi. The main wave breaks over a mix of uneven reef and sand and offers both lefts and rights. Look toward l'Arinella and the Genoese Tower for a right pointbreak, where a flat slab reef trips up some nice tubes when the wind stays light offshore. There's also a mellower beachbreak facing the Pain de Sucre restaurant, where patches of rock can liven up the shorebreak, while Sainte-Restitude's beach is far rockier and its rivermouth can throw up a good peak.
When It Works
The spot pulls in swell from west through north, with northwest the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Consistency is on the lower side, so it can be somewhat hit or miss, but the windows are worth keeping an eye on.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to clean things up. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
An easy channel and deep water make this an accessible wave for intermediates and up. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
Access
You'll find restrooms, showers, camping, a lifeguard, and a surf school nearby. Parking is easy, with a free car park plus roadside spots.
