Overview
Melma is a little bay just north of Molfetta, tucked in right beside the harbour. It's a reef break that throws mainly left-handers on the north side of the bay, peeling over a mix of uneven reef, sand, and rock. Water quality here is on the mediocre side.
When It Works
Melma draws swell from the north through to the east, and it comes into its own on a northeast (NE) swell. It's a good one to check when bigger north, northeast, and east swells are running. The wave is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it tends to be moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean it up. The reef works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The lefts here suit beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet.

There's free parking, with roadside spots to pull into beside the bay.
