Metline Port surf guide

Metline Port is a surf spot located along the coast that can be a good alternative when other nearby breaks are not working. It offers some sheltered areas, especially from north-west winds, making it an inviting option for day trips. However, it can often be too small for riding when the swell is not cooperating.

This spot is best when there’s a swell coming from the north-west, but it can also handle waves from the north-east. It works well with swell sizes around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and is known for breaking over boulders. Surfers can enjoy both left and right wave directions here. For the best experience, aim for low to mid to high tide, and you'll want south-west winds to help shape the waves. This spot is suitable for beginners, making it a good place to practice and improve your skills.

While Metline Port offers some decent waves, keep in mind that conditions can vary widely. Always check the surf report and local conditions before heading out to ensure a good time in the water.

Wind certainty tells you how much the weather models agree on the forecast.

  • Medium certainty: Some disagreement; conditions may shift slightly.
    • Low certainty: Models diverge; treat forecast with caution.

We calculate this by comparing wind speed, gust and direction from multiple models (like GFS, ECMWF, Arome, and Harmonie) and seeing how closely they match. They are weighted, meaning that some models count more than others, depending on how good they are for a certain spot.

Models and Updates

Surfnerd blends multiple global and local wind and swell models using advanced interpolation and spatial techniques to create an "ensemble" forecast. Forecasts are refreshed hourly.
