Mini Capo is a technical reef peak that ranks among the most consistent waves in Italy. The peak breaks over uneven reef and offers both a left and a right, with several fast barrel sections and a steep inside that add up to a long ride. The left is the shorter of the two, but it makes up for it with more intensity.
When It Works
Swell arrives from west to north (W-N), and northwest (NW) is the direction that lines the reef up best. The wave is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, which gives it a wide working window through the year.
Wind and Tide
The reef sits directly offshore in the northwest (NW) Mistral, which is the wind you want blowing when you check it. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers who can handle a fast, technical reef. Expect a busy lineup most times it works, and locals who are protective of the peak. Watch out for urchins and rocks on the reef. Water quality is very good.
Access
Getting in is straightforward from the small sandy beach just left of the car park, where parking is free.
