Overview
Minutes is a long, sloping right-hand point tucked inside Cow Bay, peeling off a rock-shelf reef. It earns its name from how far the rides travel, well over 500 meters when it lines up. Expect a hollow, cold-water point with fast, hollow sections and enough room for everyone to find a spot. Big boulders sit on the beach and there's kelp in the water. At the top of the bay you'll find another left/right reef break.
When It Works
The point draws swell from southwest through north to northeast (SW-N-NE) and is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.1 m / 7 ft. It's an autumn and winter wave, delivering long, fast peelers when it's on. Paddling out can be some work once there's size on it.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind to clean it up. It breaks on all tides, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Minutes suits intermediate and expert surfers, and rewards a shortboard, funboard, or fish. Expect a busy lineup when it works, especially in the fall, and the crowd can feel somewhat reserved.
Access
Getting in means a walk down the beach from Osborne Head.
