Overview
Mitamigaura is a highly consistent beachbreak, sitting just north of a tall torii shrine gate that stands before a pair of upright stones. It's a versatile spot that's often used for contests: small waves roll through on the inside while bigger sets stack up out the back, so there's usually something for everyone on a good day. The waves break over a mix of uneven reef and sand and peel both left and right.
When It Works
The break draws swell from west through north to northeast (W-N-NE), with northeast (NE) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. When it's small the banks tend to run slow and fat, but once it gets overhead the waves turn powerful and break a long way out. At that size, a useful current runs out to sea from the right-hand side of the beach.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
There's plenty here for beginners, especially the smaller, more forgiving waves on the inside.
