Overview
Mosca Point is Gran Canaria's longest left, a point break on the southeast of the island that peels over boulders. When it turns on it delivers very long rides with genuine barrel sections.
When It Works
This is a rare treat rather than an everyday wave, coming good only a few times a year when northeast-to-east swell gets groomed into shape. It draws swell from northeast to east (NE-E), with east (E) the best match, and works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean it up. The spot sits exposed to the strong northeast trade winds, the Alisios, which frequently make it hard to score. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Best suited to intermediate surfers. Expect a busy lineup on the days it breaks well, and be aware that localism here is on the increase.
Access
There's roadside parking near the break.
