Overview
Naplo is a novelty shorebreak tucked inside a deeply protected harbour. It throws up dumpy closeouts and short, steep lefts and rights that bodyboarders tend to get the most out of. The bottom is a mix of uneven reef and sand with some rocky patches, and it can get rippy where the swell bounces off the piers and jetties. This is a working harbour, so there are usually boats and people about, and the water isn't the cleanest because of it.
When It Works
The harbour needs the right angle to switch on. It draws swell from southwest through northwest, with northwest the best match, and bigger swells or anything with north in them will bend into the harbour. Expect it to be usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft. Consistency is on the lower side, so you may need some patience to catch it on.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. It works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves here suit beginners. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
Restrooms and lifeguard cover are on hand. Parking is easy, with a car park offering free parking alongside paid and roadside options.
