Overview
Noordhoek Main Rights is a long, powerful right-hand reef break with a few hollower sections. Getting out is easy: a boat launching ramp and a deeper channel mean you can often make a dry-hair paddle out, keeping clear of the urchins and mussels that cover the rocks.
When It Works
The wave peels over an uneven reef and picks up swell from southwest through southeast, with southwest the best direction. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and as a consistent spot there's usually something to ride when a swell is running.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. The reef works through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers. Its consistency keeps it popular, so expect a busy lineup when it's on.
