Overview
North Haven is a rivermouth jetty break over sand, with the jetty offering shelter from southerly winds. When the sand builds up, good rights run down the wall, and the adjacent left peak is often the better of the two. There's plenty more surf further up the beach if you want to slip away from the weekend crew.
When It Works
North Haven draws swell from northeast through southeast, with southeast (SE) the best direction. It's a consistent break that works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, mostly a right-hander running down the wall. When it's oversized here, Diamond Head down the coast trims the swell for an easier session.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind. It surfs through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits beginners, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on. If it fills up, walk up the beach to find your own peak.
Access
There's a car park with free parking, along with paid and roadside options. Facilities include restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, and camping.
