North Jetty is a sand-bottomed right-hander sitting right at the rivermouth in Florida, named for the mile-long jetty that shapes the break. That jetty blocks average swell from the south, so the spot really comes alive when there is some north in the swell, sending down long righthanders with shorter lefts on offer too. Even at the rivermouth, locals report no real pollution problems here.
When It Works
The break takes swell from south through north (S-N), but northeast (NE) is the direction to wait for, since anything with north in it lights up those long rights. It is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, and the wedgy peak fills in from mid-incoming through high tide.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind. The spot can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a beginner-friendly wave, but the lineup is always crowded and a longstanding local pecking order demands respect. Experienced longboarders dominate the peak while younger rippers work the scraps, leaving some tasty crumbs for well-behaved visitors.
Access
Parking is a paid car park right on the beach, which can get tricky at high tide. A campground sits directly behind the sand, and you will also find restrooms, showers, camping, and a surf shop.
