North Street is a sand-bottomed jetty break at the north end of Ocean City, sitting closest to the inlet and breaking both left and right. It's the most consistent spot in the area. Being nearest the inlet, it collects plenty of sand, which piles up at the north end after a summer of south swells, and it works on both sides of the jetty.
When It Works
North Street draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south, with northeast (NE) the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft and handles all swells up to that size on either side of the jetty. As the most consistent break around, it tends to show up bigger than its neighbors.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind. The break works on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. Lower tides favor the south side of the jetty, while the north side starts working after mid and can serve up good rights.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a busy lineup when it's on. It typically draws larger crowds than the surrounding breaks.
Access
There's free roadside parking, with full facilities including restrooms, showers, and a lifeguard over at 2nd Street. The break backs onto an exclusive neighborhood, so suit up with care in the roadside parking areas.
