Overview
Nusa Lefts is a fast, fluid left that breaks over live coral on the northern tip of the reef fringing the island where most surfers stay. Being so exposed, the waves jack up out of deeper water and bowl out in sections as the wall bends around the shelf, holding a clean face before the inside turns inside-out over shallow coral. When conditions are right, the outside bombie is rideable too.
When It Works
The break draws swell from west to north (W-N), and it's at its best on a north (N) swell. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, with moderately consistent surf that delivers worthwhile windows when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to groom the face. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is for experts. The shallow live coral on the inside leaves little margin as the wall pinches inside-out, so it rewards surfers who can handle a fast, bowling reef. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it's on.
