Ollie’s Shipwreck is a surf spot located just a couple of hundred meters up the road from Rolling Stones. It’s known for its unique setting and the interesting tale as the fishermen of Grindavik call this reef a boat cemetery. The atmosphere around the spot is quite relaxed, but don’t expect a consistent wave every time you visit, as it’s virtually never surfed due to its unpredictable conditions.

The surf here consists of a long left reef break, with some easier, shorter rights available off the point in front of the lighthouse. It typically needs a bit of size, around 4ft (1.2 meters), along with some west in the swell to really get going. The ideal swell directions are southwest and south, and the spot handles waves breaking over boulders. Preferable wind direction is from the northeast, and for the best results, aim for mid to high tide. This wave can be friendly enough for beginners, but be mindful of the rocks and boils in the lineup among some shoulder flat spots.

While Ollie’s Shipwreck isn’t the most consistent wave around, it can be a fun spot when the conditions align. If you’re looking for a little adventure and want to explore a less crowded area, Ollie’s might just be worth a visit.
