Ombak Tujuh surf guide

Ombak Tujuh, which means Seven Waves, is a well-known spot for big wave surfing. This place can handle swells up to 20ft (7m) and features a coral ledge that juts into deeper water. When the conditions are right, the waves jolt upward quickly, offering some intense drops near the cliffs. It’s important to note that this spot is geared towards experienced surfers, as the powerful waves can lead to serious hold downs.

This break works best with swells coming from the South and SouthWest, and it can handle smaller swells starting at 5ft (1.5m). The waves are primarily reef breaks that shift left, and for the best conditions, you’ll want the wind out of the SouthEast. It’s versatile enough to work at low, mid, and high tide, but you’ll definitely want to be at an expert level to take on the challenges it presents.

Ombak Tujuh stays surprisingly consistent and is usually not crowded, although you might see more people around when charter boats bring in surfers. If you’re looking for a spot where you can catch some serious waves and test your skills, this is worth checking out.
