Open Doors is a sand-bottomed beach break on the east side of Isla Natividad, and it is where you go if you want to fly. The peaks dredge and barrel, throwing powerful lefts and rights that will snap boards, so it rewards surfers who can commit.
When It Works
The bank draws wrapping swell from northwest through north to southeast (NW-N-SE), but the south (S) direction is the pick and the southern swells generally deliver the better waves here. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and as a consistent break it turns on regularly rather than only on rare days.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind, which typically fills in every afternoon and grooms the peaks. The bank works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-level wave. The dredging barrels and board-snapping power put it out of reach for most surfers, so treat it as a step up rather than an everyday session. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working.

There is camping nearby, though parking is restricted, so plan your approach before you arrive.
