Palos Verdes Cove - North Reef/Little Queens surf guide

Palos Verdes Cove - North Reef, also known as Little Queens, is a spot located just inside of Ski Jump. It's a reef break that offers surfers a mix of fast rides, mainly to the right, with a few lefts thrown in. This spot tends to cater to lower to mid-level surfers who are looking for a quick session and can handle the local crowd that tends to show up when conditions are right.

The surf works best at high tide, especially with southwest to northwest swells. It generally handles small sizes pretty well, maxing out around 2 feet (0.6 meters). The wave breaks over an uneven reef, so being mindful out there is key. When the winds are southeast, that's when you'll find the conditions are at their best. Just know that the size of the waves can be a limiting factor; it doesn't handle too much swell.

Keep in mind that the spot can be a bit fickle, so itโ€™s a good idea to check conditions beforehand or go during the right tide. Itโ€™s a fun spot for a quick surf if you know what you're doing, but don't expect something epic every time you paddle out.
