Overview
Pan Dulce is a right-hand point tucked inside the Golfo, and it's a seriously beautiful place to surf. When a south swell fills in with some size, it turns into a Rincon-style point with long, mellow cutback shoulders and zippy walls that are perfect for longboarding. It often breaks as two separate sections over an uneven reef-and-sand bottom, and there's an inside beachbreak that's ideal for beginners finding their feet.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south to southwest (S-SW), with southwest (SW) the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, so it wants a decent south swell before the long right really switches on. Expect moderately consistent surf: it fires less often, and is more makeable for average surfers, than the outside points nearby.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean it up. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave, while the inside beachbreak gives beginners a friendlier option. Because it breaks less often than the outer points but stays more makeable, expect a busy lineup when it's on, along with a few vocal expats and Puerto Jimenez locals in the water. Keep in mind there are regular shark sightings here too.
Access
There's camping at the spot, plus free roadside parking.
