Overview
Panga Drop is a bombora-style, horseshoe-shaped reef that sits well offshore and picks up just about everything coming its way. It throws whizzing walls, inside barrels, and fading shoulders that shift around a large playing field, breaking both left and right over uneven reef. It's genuinely fun for regular surfers and works just as well on shortboards as it does on longboards.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through west, with a southwest (SW) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 5.5 m / 18 ft, giving you a wide working window to play with. Consistency is a real strength here, so it breaks more often than not.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. Sitting so far out, the wave gets ruffled easily, so glassy mornings are what you want. It breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, though the peaks tend to scatter the crew across the wide reef fairly quickly.
Access
Walk in from Gigante or take a boat to skip the long paddle. Parking nearby is restricted.
