Pansukian is a right-hand reef break facing the plush resort of the same name, and it was one of the original waves ridden on Siargao. It peels over a live coral shelf and can serve up some challenging sections when it lines up. Neighbouring Daku shelters it from northeast swell, so the setup relies on swell wrapping in from the east.
When It Works
The break draws swell from east through southeast (E-SE), and it's at its best on a straight east (E) swell. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, giving it plenty of range from mellow days up to more serious size. Consistency is moderate, so you'll want to time your window, but there are worthwhile sessions when the swell direction and size come together over the reef.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind to clean up the faces. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate wave, thanks to the peeling right and the shallow coral underneath. Despite its history as one of the island's first surfed waves, the lineup stays fairly quiet these days and is often close to empty.
Access
Getting out is quick: it's a short ride across to the bright white sands of Naked Island and then out to the break.
