Overview
Parede is a right-hand point that breaks over uneven reef and is often called the best wave in the Lisbon region. When it lines up, it becomes a world-class, leg-burning, freight-train barrel. This is an elusive wave, and as a visitor you should not expect to get too many of them.
When It Works
Parede needs a due west swell to line up properly and take on that long, J-Bay style shape. It draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), but west (W) is the direction that really switches it on. The right point works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, so it takes a solid swell before it comes to life.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean things up. The point favours low tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call within that window.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only wave. The barrel is fast and demanding, and the lineup tends to be the domain of locals and the very lucky, so it is not a spot to learn on.
Access
There are showers, a lifeguard, and a surf shop nearby. For parking you have a mix of options, including a car park, roadside spots, and paid parking.
