Pescadero is a long beach where sandy reefs close to shore throw up some fun A-frames and get the most out of the swell. The standout is San Pedrito, a rippable right-hand reef at the north end that breaks over a mix of uneven reef and sand.
When It Works
It draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with southwest (SW) the best match. The beach is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and San Pedrito in particular handles plenty of northwest size. With a consistent rating, waves show up here more often than not, breaking both left and right.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. San Pedrito tends to suffer from the midday onshores, so the mornings are the safer window. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and San Pedrito is not a beginner's wave. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it works, and watch for sea urchins, which are common here.
