When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through west, with a southwest swell the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. Consistency can be hit and miss, but its knack for catching small summer swells makes it worth watching when other spots go quiet.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind. The reef breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call, though the incoming push brings a strong rip to contend with.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers who are comfortable sitting over a shallow reef. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, and it draws a local crowd, so show some respect in the water.
Access
Getting here is hard work. Plan for a long walk in, and a rocky, awkward entry and exit that makes getting in and out of the water tricky. Park near Pitton, where there's limited free roadside parking.
