Plage Blanche surf guide

Plage Blanche, translating to "White Beach," is a sprawling stretch of coastline that measures around 50 kilometers. This spot is pretty remote and best accessed from Goulimine, although you can also get there from the southern route near Aoreora’s fort. Keep in mind that it's quite a long drive over semi-desert terrain, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended to tackle the rough roads.

This beach is all about the waves, catering to intermediate surfers looking for some fun. The swells come primarily from the Southwest and North, and it can handle swell sizes as small as 1 ft (about 0.3 meters). The waves here break over sand, creating both left and right options for surfers. For the best ride, aim to catch them with a Southeast wind, and they can be surfed at low, mid, or high tide, giving you flexibility in planning your session.

While you won't find a crowd out here, it can be a bit isolated. This means you might have better luck if you check the conditions before you head out. With the right swell and wind, Plage Blanche can serve up some decent waves, but it’s always a good idea to stay aware of what’s happening on the water. Enjoy the tranquil vibes!
