Overview
Platja de Cavalleria - Menorca is a short, powerful right-hand point breaking over uneven reef, with beachbreak peaks scattered along the rest of the beach. When the Tramontana winds blow, it ranks among the best waves on the island. The other peaks along the sand deliver quantity rather than quality, so the point is the prize. Crystal clear water, dramatic cliffs, great seafood restaurants and archeological remains all add to the experience.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from northwest to northeast (NW-NE), with north (N) swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so it stays rideable from small pulses up to solid swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind. The reef can work through the whole tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a wave for intermediate surfers. Overcrowding has become an issue, so expect the main local riders to take the majority of the set waves, but overall it's a friendly crew in the lineup.
